Think of this, first we had the HAM Radio, then the bbs and now the Internet. Linux and the various other x systems are the next evolutionary step toward enhancing Global 2-way communications. And the best part, its virtually free!
As Fort business scurries to find solutions to the current Linux crisis, the Linux community triads on daily doing what we’ve been doing for the last 10-13 years… developing software, writing manuals, persuading pertinacious hardware vendors… and i.e. working with computers. But, there’s a hitch. You can’t put a patent on creativity and creativity comes from all sources and global regions… And big software companies can’t hire everyone! And if I’m not mistaken, everyone doesn’t want to work for big software. Or, sit in front of a computer terminal all day!
Fort business must and will eventually open its collective doors to free source. Acknowledge the facts that the bulk of there newest and best software was developed by low or unpaid freelance geniuses. To sum it up: Makes good money, makes good sense!
Very few people understand computer code. And it’s my guess very few will or have the desire to. So, what’s big businesses problem? FEAR? I certainly don’t know, but if you look around the Internet and Stock Markets these days you can see that they’re slowly figuring this out. Makes good money, makes good cents!

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) provides a set of seven value factors for grading pearls. These are: Size, Color, Shape, Luster, Nacre Quality, Surface Quality, and Matching (within a strand or set). Traditionally, pearl farmers strived to create the perfectly round pearl. Today, Fashion gives us new, unique designs featuring pearls of interesting shapes that are far from round. This article talks about the Pearl Shape value factor, specifically, the shapes that are not created by Nature.
In the beginning, without going into too much detail, three Japanese gentlemen — Mikimoto, Mise and Nishikawa — developed commercial culture pearl farming as we know it today. This involved placing a round “seed” made from the shell of a mullusk shell into the Akoya oyster, thus stimulating it to make it to grow nacre (pearl skin) around that seed. Although overly simplified, this is the basic process they developed in the early 1900s that is followed still today.
Freshwater pearls are cultured a little differently. They do not require that seed bead. They begin with just a slip of mantel tissue from a donor mussel(mussels grow in freshwater; oysters in saltwater). This offers new possibilities for shaping the new pearl. First, with just a piece of mantel tissue, Chinese pearl farmers spent many years experimenting to get the gorgeous round pearls on the market today. Although no one really knows how they do it (trade secrets abound), I have heard that placing a perfectly square piece of mantel tissue as the “seed” seems to produce rounder pearls.
Freshwater pearls also come in an array of interesting shapes. Some of these are formed using seeds just like Akoyas, Tahitians and South Seas. Instead of using the round seed bead, a square tile or a round wafer is slipped into the mussel. The result is the beautiful square and coin pearls that are so popular.
Love those Petal pearls? They are actually the result of a mussel that has already grown a square or coin pearl and is allowed to form a pearl without a seed in the empty hole. When the pearl is removed from the mussel, it leaves an empty sac. If the mussel was not injured when the pearl was taken from it, the mussel can be returned to the water where it will continue excrete nacre and form another freeform pearl in the empty pearl sac. Petal pearls cost more than simpler pearls because the mussel must survive twice as long and thus require higher risk for the pearl farmer.
Almost any shape you can imagine can be created using tiles, wafers or sticks of paraffin and/or mussel shell. Crosses, tiles and coins have all been shaped using these techniques. If you are not sure if the pearls are formed by Nature or by human intervention, be sure to ask. Your retailer should be knowledgeable enough to provide this information, especially if this is a high-dollar item. Your retailer should be equally willing to disclose this information.

Are you looking for a cheap and easy way to impress your date and to have a good time? Then get a croquet set and teach them to play. I recently taught a girl to play croquet. At first I thought that she thought I was nerd and that I was ridiculous for playing such games. I am also a cheapskate for taking her to play this cheap game or free activity rather than spending money on her, which I did not have anyway. The whole time we were playing, I thought that she thought I was dumb.
I easily won our first game, the one where I taught her to play. The second game was a little different, however, after she knew what she was doing and understood the game a little more. I still could have easily beaten her, but being the gentleman that I am, I played bad on purpose and intentionally hit my ball poorly or in the wrong direction to give her a chance. I played poorly to the very end and purposely missed the last two wickets, overshooting them so that I would have to hit my ball in the reverse direction and get another shot at them. This gave her the opportunity to catch up with me and hit her ball through for the win. I just thought it would be a little more fun for her if she was not trailing me by so much and even had a chance to win it. I think in the end she did not think I was so dumb after that, and actually had a good attitude about the game. She still went out with me again, so it must have been good. We did go out to eat and watch a movie afterward, and she specifically thanked me for that, but not for playing croquet.
I still think that she thought I was a nerd at the time, but later she said that she liked it just to be nice. I think that she is too nice to tell me what she really thinks. I kept prying her later, trying to get her to be honest with me and tell me that she did not like it, but she always reassured me that it was fun. The second time we played she actually wanted to play and suggested it when a family member and friend were with us and we were thinking of something to do. I had to teach her family member and friend how to play also.
Now that I look back, I have decided that I was very cultured and proper to take her to play croquet and teach her how. After all, croquet is a game that cultured people play. It was played by the upper classes in the British Empire, which is how it spread throughout the world to be the popular sport that it is today. I probably came across as intelligent and gentlemanly also, the way taught her how to play and let her win. In the end we were able to play a fun game outdoors for a while, which made me look good, and it was cheap.
So, if you are looking for something cheap, yet entertaining and impressive to do, then get a croquet set and learn to play. You can then impress anyone, anytime with your intelligence, poise, depth of culture, and being a gentleman or ladylike. It may seem silly now, and you may feel a little dumb or awkward at first, like I did, but I guarantee that in the end it will be OK. You can think of croquet as an End or a Means to an end.

What is Blog? Blog is short for weblog. A weblog is a journal
(or newsletter) that is frequently updated and intended for
general public consumption. They are typically updated daily
using software that allows people with little or no technical
background to update and maintain the blog.
Why Blog? As its definition it helps to publish news updates, to
promote new products & services as well as different opinion
from various experts who participates in blogs. Many companies
today open a blog section to sell products, for customer care
and after sales support. Business blogs are the fast track to
increasing a website’s link popularity and Google PageRank. The
regularly updated keyword rich content offered by blogs score
high rankings in the search engines as a direct result of their
link drawing power. Link exchanges between themes related blogs
are frequent and not at all difficult. Note that bloggers mainly
exchange links for visitor traffic purposes, and not for search
engine optimization. Link exchanges should generally be
approached from the shared traffic perspective. Blogs also
provide an exclusive list of high PageRank blog directories.
While maintaining their exclusivity in the blog only Internet
directories, blogs are welcomed in the mainstream Internet
directories. In that sense, blogs receive the best of both
worlds. Website owners, who are serious about improving not only
their quantity of incoming links, but their theme relevant
quality as well, should seriously consider adding a business
blog component to their website.

Now there is no law that says you have to follow these rules, but if you are in business on the Web, you should definitely pay attention.
Rule #1 - Turn off your CAPS LOCK - Some people seem to feel that if they write their E-mail in ALL CAPS it will be more effective.
Quite the opposite is the case. CAPS should be used only for emphasis. Many people consider the use of ALL CAPS as being the equivalent of shouting and do take offense at it.
Rule #2 - Never send multiple E-mails without using Blind Carbon Copies (BCC). If every E-mail address you sent it to is displayed, you are making the spammers job a lot easier when they harvest addresses. But you have to address it to someone, even if using BCC, so remember, there are a lot of “kooks” in this world who will persecute anyone they can identify.
When using BCC, never send the note to someone on your mailing list. If you have a second ID use that, or send the note to yourself with copies to everyone on your list. That way, if someone decides to “vent” it will come back to you and not someone on your list. It also gives you a permanent record of the E-mails you sent to your mailing list. If you don’t have a second ID#, you can get one easily at Juno, Hotmail, etc.
Rule #3 - Are you sure your E-mail was actually sent to your mailing list? One easy way to be sure it was, is to include your E-mail address in your file of names you send it to. A good method is to include your address at the very end of the list. If you get your copy, you can be sure everyone else did as well.
Rule #4 - Don’t Bore Them to Death - Advertising by E-mail is a cheap and effective way to get your message out to people, and most people don’t mind getting an E-mail if it is short and to the point, but don’t spam and send to people you don’t already have a relationship with. Also, don’t try to sell them your product or services with your first mailing. Try to pique their curiosity instead and have them either reply to your E-mail or visit your Web Site.
Rule #5 - Honor Removes - if someone asks to be removed from your mailing list, do it immediately and send them a courtesy note advising them it has been done. Keeping people on your mailing list that don’t want to receive your information is not only bad form, but can cost you your ISP if a complaint is lodged against you.
And NEVER forge headers so they can’t respond to you by E-mail.
This is the favorite trick of the scamsters who don’t want you to respond to their E-mail, and give you a number to call or a form to fill out instead.
Rule #6 - Be sure that you are not sending the same person multiple E-mails. This is a definite sign of spam and most people will simply delete them.
Rule #7 - I still get E-mails with no text and the message they wish me to read is an attachment to the E-mail. It is immediately deleted as it could very well contain a virus - even from someone you know. Some ISP’s have a top limit to the amount of text they will display, and anything larger is automatically converted to an attachment. Many people will not go through this exercise, so you should ensure that your E-mail message can be read by all the people it is sent to, without them having to open an attachment.
